Math is Everywhere

How much does my son love math? Today I was plotting the kids' height and weight on the CDC growth charts when the little guy walked up behind me and squealed with delight, "I want to do that!" Apparently, he thought it was some sort of math worksheet.

My views on traditional schooling aren't rosy, and I express my opinions on the topic regularly. That said, I don't berate parents who choose that path by choice or out of necessity. My opinions may be strong, but I will still do my best to respect yours. I believe parents should be supportive of one another, not competitive. Competition is not a goal of my blog; these are merely my opinions and experiences. The traditional public education system is broken, not the teachers, the parents, or the children.

Reezle

Reezle is 10 years old, and the artist and birdwatcher of the family. Her creative and curious mind is always working on some exciting new project, and her compassion for others is absolutely inspiring. She is in 4th grade, and her favorite subjects are science, history, and art. She wants to be a nutritionist when she grows up so she can help people prevent and reverse diseases. She plans to create a small organic farm and share some of the foods at her job as part of her “nutrition therapy” plan. Reezle also loves animals, especially cats and horses, and is always looking for ways to be involved with helping them.
